About the Area:

The Esentepe/Bahceli Coast is North Cyprus’s favourite spots to buy a dream home or invest in a property for holidays. Here you will find property prices with exceptional value, as well as a lower cost of living. Located to the East of Kyrenia, the Esentepe/Bahceli coast offers plenty to see and do, great food and the hospitality of the locals who welcome the growing expat community with open arms. Here you will also find modern facilities to meet your everyday needs without the hassle and traffic typical of bigger cities. Esentepe village is only a stones throw away and is steeped in history, dating back to the Byzantine era when the village was first established and perfect for a day out exploring local heritage sites.

Behceli is extremely multicultural, as seen in the restuarants and shops in the area, with the village benefitting from the diversity, which is mainly made up of Turkish Cypriots, people from Norway, Sweden, England and many other European countries.

Bahceli and the beauty of the surrounding areas of Alagadi, Karaağac and Alevkaya make this area a must see, particularly due to the turtle nesting sites on the fantastic beaches of the area, the forest walks, picnic sites and the herbarium featuring samples and illustrations of native botanical species. It’s also an area historically rich with ruins of various monasteries, as well as the domed church of Antiphonitis, which contains one of the last examples of 12th and 15th century frescoes in North Cyprus.

Korineum Golf Course

The prestigious Korineum Golf & Beach Resort is in fact very much a part of the small island’s history as it is proudly home to the first 18 hole golf course in the Northern part of Cyprus. The beautifully manicured lawns and impeccably kept golf course are not the only marvels of the Resort. With a private beach and a deluxe Boutique Hotel, the experience offered is one of celebrated relaxation.

The dramatic beauty of the Resort is sure to take your breath away with its stately grandeur set between the Mediterranean coast and the Beşparmak Mountain range in

Alagadi Turtle Beach is a famous turtle beach, but also a popular beach for both locals and tourists. The beach consists of two bays, one has a restaurant and is always well-attended, while the other bay is a little more secluded and suits those who want a quieter day at the beach. Neither have beach chairs or umbrellas, but you can bring your own beach accessories here.

In the summertime you can see when the sea turtles’ egg hatch on Alagadi Turtle Beach. The volunteer organisation SPOT organises turtle nest excavations and these can be attended if you get a reservation with SPOT. It’s an amazing feeling to be a part of the moment when sandy little hatchlings see the day light for the first time. Or in the evening when you can be part of the group who drops them into the sea!

The places where the turtle’s nests are located on the beach are marked out with white nets so you can’t miss them. You cannot put your sun lounger or parasol close to them, as you may risk damaging the nest. When you are at Alagadi Turtle Beach you should not miss the natural “rock pools” created by the sea where rocks meet sea and where the stones are sanded by the waves. At these “rock pools” the water is heated by the warm Mediterranean sun. Here you can sit still with your feet in the warm waters and look out over the scenic coast.
